You can always tell when it's the start of the school Easter and Summer holidays (and the time in mid-November when you really ought to start thinking about Christmas shopping) by the tv commercials and release of the latest Now compilation CD.
Thus Now 72 has hit the shops, priced between £10.81 (Tesco) and £13.99 (HMV).

Looking at the list of 43 supposed chart tracks on it, I realise I have finally outgrown the thing, because I can only recognise about half a dozen of them. The other noteworthy statistic is that our once-great British record company, EMI, whose brand Now is, only supplies three of those forty three tracks. _________________ Ron |

Is Brown-Eyed Girl on it then?
Does SW still play that every half-hour? _________________ MiS |

Yes, I'm sure I heard him play it yet again recently when I caught a snatch of his "show" whilst I was driving. When you think of all the really good stuff that Van The Man has produced it's quite pathetic that it always comes down to Brown Eyed Girl or Bright Side of The Road.
I love "Real, Real Gone" and it's such a good stirring track but I never hear it on daytime radio.
In fact, I'm going to play it on iTunes right now, so there! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

'4% Pantomime' by The Band with Van Morrison never gets an airing either! 'Oh Richard' Van sings, and Richard (Manuel) sings back in answer 'Oh Belfast Cowboy!' Hey maybe he could see into the future and Van doing Country songs! |

I remember listening to Gerry Anderson's show on Radio Ulster a few years back and on one particular day it was obvious he wasn't in his usual studio and had very little choice of CDs to play as around half the tracks on the show were all on the most recent Now album.. |

Looks good to me. The superb Lily Allen, the gorgeous Alicia Dixon, Kelly Clarkson, The Saturdays, Leona Lewis, Katy Perry (ooooh er!), September...... etc.
Yep! I might have to rip somebody's 2 CD set into my iTunes!
BTW - currently listening to my original "Grateful Dead Europe '72" live double LP. How about that for eclecticity (or whatever the word should be!)? _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Too right. I was listening to "Workingman's Dead" in the car earlier. Love it. I saw the dead at Ally Pally back in 76 when PigPen was with them and Garcia was still alive (at least he looked alive up there on stage! ) and it was a bit weird.
I do like a lot of today's stuff as well. Lily Allen is a lovely, original songwriter/singer and Alicia Dixon is, er, mmmm, well, sexy!!!!!!!!! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |
