Now I know he's a bad boy having once called Chris Evans a naughty name but I make no secret of the fact I am a huge fan of Mark Lamarr on the radio. God's Jukebox is unmissable as far as I'm concerned - the fact that it's on at ungodly hour means it's almost always on Listen Again. Just caught up with the last episode - after opening the show with Ennio Morricone (who else would do that?) he says something very interesting which I think will chime with the views of a few on here:

I am too. A few years ago he presented a fascinating TV documentary for BBC4 - which he researched, wrote and then presented - on Brian Wilson's influence on popular music. It was shot on the Beach Boys' home turf in the Hawthorns and Santa Monica, as well as in some of the studios used by the band, and was one of the best programmes I've ever seen on the subject (I love the Beach Boys music and in particular Brian Wilson's work!).
I have it saved on DVD - though I'm damned if I know where it now is!
What came through was Lamarr's passion for the music and a total respect for the music makers, and that's what I like about the guy.
He's obviously not Radio 2 material, therefore.  |

Thanks for the reminder,Soulsis..I do like this show but don't always get the chance to listen....I'm listening now and soon was up dancing to Billy's Bag by Billy Preston before I realised I was doing so.....you could say the rhythm got to me....   |

Just enjoyed Mark's show from last night in which he says that most people don't even know of his show's existence. 
Another belter of a programme (but then they always are) a corncucopia of musical delights - featured band Sly and The Family Stone - which of course, is right up my alley.
Only thing is Mark - the Dirty Robbers track you played is a note for note rip off of the early Mac blues homage to Elmore James. Why? Just put the Mac on!
Other than that - tracks from Link Wray, the Impressions, Graham Central Station, Ray Charles and many more.
