I read that two of The Dixie Chicks have made an album as 'The Court Yard Hounds' (terrible name I think) and Jakob Dylan (Bob's son) sings on the album too. The row over their comments about George W Bush a few years ago seems to have ended the Chicks earlier career as a top Country Music act. Natalie Maines who made the remarks is not on the new album. Some Americans revere their President (no matter how inept) as some here in this country do with the Royal Family.

Dixie Chicks album sales actually went up after the remarks about Dubya. I guess Maines is taking a break.

Wide Open Spaces sold 12 Million. Fly 10 Million. Home was a little short of the 10 Million mark.
The post-controversy Chicks album, Taking the Long Way sold under 5 Million.

Martie & Emily say they are trying to entice Natalie back into music, but she is not interested at present. So they are going ahead with this side project.

I thought Taking The Long Way was a good corperate rock album, but it missed the whole point of what the Chicks were about- the great pickin' skills of Marty & Emily teamed with often witty & always quality songs.
One could see on the Taking The Long Way tour- Martie & Emily, brilliant acoustic musicians, left virtually redundant through the newer material as all was drowned out by an array of rock session musicians & an orchestra.
All a bit self indulgent, & wasting the talents of Martie & Emily. I hope the new album gets back to basics

The above post makes interesting reading. Eagles & Jack have the most astronomical sales figures. Shania Twains' "Come On Over" (highlted) is the biggest selling album by a female (20 million). The Chiocks' debut Wide Open Spaces sold 12 million & the follow Up "Fly" 10 million.
These figures are USA only
