David Suchet was in The Mirror yesterday moaning about his series being cut for financial reasons.
I say - get used to it! He's now in the hole that numerous makers of children's programmes find themselves in since ITV1 felt it was too expensive to commission them.
He complained that they hadn't got to 'Murder On The Orient Express' yet in the cycle. Excuse me - how many remakes of this have there been? Loads! ITV1 over Christmas was little else but remakes of Agatha Christie stories with various actors as Poirot or Miss Marple.
I'm surprised they don't have Steve Hackett's 'Carry On Up The Vicarage' (his tribute to the Christie novels) as on hold music! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

ITV finds everything that doesn't make them millions in advertising and phone calls too expensive to make - so that just leaves the soaps and Britain's Got X-Factor On Ice In The Jungle.
Never mind the quality - Poirot, Lewis, Foyle - feel the satisfaction of having carp programmes like Loose Women winning Factual Programme category of the National Television awards
In all honesty, though, the last series of Poirot was ruined by the decision to make them like arty big-budget feature films. David Suchet's figure wasn't the only thing that looked overblown. _________________ Ron |

Either the Mirror's wrong or Suchet's memory is going - they've just filmed "Orient Express" with David Morrissey, Eileen Atkins and Samuel West among the cast. |

Well it may be an old article or he might just mean it hasn't been broadcast yet.
ITV seem uninterested in anyhting remotely good and only want to broadcast tat. |

Well, ITV do take a very long time to broadcast their dramas (the Julia McKenzie Marples had been seen all around the world before ITV1 bothered) but this has only just been filmed - there's been literally no time to show it. However, I hear it's penciled in for Christmas.
There's also only something like 8 stories left to film. |

The Mirror tend to spin a story to suit their own agenda. They feature a lot of carp themselves at the expense of more newsworthy items - yes, Cheryl Cole's lips, I'm pointing at you!
Loose Women getting Best Factual Programme on the National Television Awards is like nominating Jet 2 for the best airline! Cheap, nasty, the set looks like the inside of a curry restaurant and it's surpassed in factual content by The Wright Stuff on the Five channel. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
