Going to see Erin McKeown and Anais Mitchell play (separately) at the Cluny in Newcastle tomorrow evening, Bob Harris has featured both on his show before and recommends them highly.
Missed Sarah Harmer at the same venue last Sunday - gutted! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

That is a shame. I did see her live a few years ago. She was good even if she was the support act. One of her songs she played was about her native Canada, it echo'd a trip that I had recently made over there, mentioning things like Niagara. Being an arts centre I got the chance to talk to her and tell her about that Canadian holiday. I hope you get a chance to see her somewhere. A lovely lady. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Erin was a real showman (showgirl?) - she had us in stitches all night. Great songs, plenty of character and quirks, some taken from her cover album "Sing You Sinners", including the 1941 number "Rhode Island Is Famous For You".... she's a fine guitarist, plenty of audience participation throughout and everyone had a great time. Anais was more introspective, sounded more like Tina Turner than Cyndi Lauper (her words!) due to a slight cold, though very warm and friendly when I got the chance to talk to her, and she came and sat next to me in the front row when Erin started to play! I know I wasn't sure about her voice when I first heard Bob Harris playing her material, but I came to my senses some time ago!
They're playing London tomorrow night (Sat. 23rd) and Brighton on Sunday 24th - if you can catch them, do so. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
