As part of BBC2's special package of shows dedicated to Radio One last night (Sunday), it broadcast Chris Moyles' affectionate look back at the f Radio One Breakfast presenters from Day One in 1967. He talked to hosts as diverse as Tony Blackburn to Mike Smith, Mike Read, Zoe Ball, Sarah Cox and all. I thought it was a really good insight, all written and presented by Moyles himself.

One breakfast show that he did deacribe as being ground-breaking and "right for its time" was the short-lived Chris Evans Breakfast Show. However, in his link to the relevant sequence, Moyles then informed us that he'd have loved to chat with Evans about his time at Radio One but - unfortunately - Mr. Evans didn't want to take part in the programme.

Pity really, because Moylesy obviously had the best of intentions (his chats with Tony Blackburn and Mike Read were very entertaining).

Says it all really?

Confused

Yes it does, doesn't it! I'll give the programme a look when it gets repeated, I missed seeing that in the schedules. Thanks Colin.

Just caught up with this and very good it was too. Being old, I've never really had much to do with |Moyles but he wasn't half as irritating as |I was expecting.

Why no Noel Edmonds (not that I usually complain about him not being on tellY, or DLT. No mention of that

Two recent(ish) programmes featuring Moyles that impressed me were the Comic Relief Hike up Mount Kilimanjaro and also his "Who Do You Think You Are?". Both showed him in a very favourable light.

A friend of mine worked with Moyles when he worked at Horizon Radio in Milton Keynes (now part of the "Bland FM" network otherwise known as Heart) and he has told me often how nice a bloke Moyles is.

What I particularly like in Moyles is his self-depracating humour, which is why I consider him to be a much better breakfast presenter than his Radio 2 counterpart. He'll also mock himself and highlight his own shortcomings before pointing the finger at others.
