Really enjoying clips of this group, Fab Faux, on youtube.
They perform late Beatles tracks/albums LIVE (which the Beatles themselves never did) and they are awesome!
Here's a taster

Very good indeed. Abbey Road is my favourite Beatles album and the second side (as was!) is as near perfect as it can get. And don't let it be said that Ringo was an "average" drummer, either). These guys are impressive!

They did on the Saville Row basement recordings - the ones in which Billy Preston played on Hammond - and, of course, on the roof. |

Thanks John.. really enjoyed watching the three sections, simply superb! I've never heard of them before.
I'll return tomorrow to watch some more clips after I hook up my pc "sound system" to get a better sound.
I'm also inspired to give my Abbey Road Remastered CD a blast too.
I hate to say it Colin.. but imo, Ringo was pretty much an average drummer.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I absolutely disagree. The drumming on the second side of Abbey Road is exemplary and is cited as such by several famous drummers - among them Phil Collins, whose drumming I've seen many times. He has said that doesn't think he could have played the complex drum arrangemets on (for instance) "Carry That Weight" anywhere near as expertly.
Keith Moon also rated Ringo highly.
Ringo was and probably still is, in my humble opinion, a superb drummer! |

Yes I with you there.

Ah yes on the roof. So ,the 'Let It Be' tracks that were not on the roof, were they recorded live in the basement? _________________ -

Some of the "Let It Be" tracks were recorded on a desolate sound stage at Twickenham Film Studios but the sessions (late Dec 6 were disastrous and the break-up of the group for a few days.
In the new year, they had the idea of moving the whole thing to the basement at Apple, and it was here that the presence of Billy Preston helped them to work in a disciplined way.
It was after these sessions ( so perfectly captured on the "Let It Be Naked" CD) that it was decided to get back one last time, and this resulted in George Martin producing what we now know as the Abbey Road album, recorded in Studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios. I think it's their best.
Anybody who hasn't seen the Let It Be film should watch it. It's pretty hard to get hold of, though. |

Transatlantic had a fair stab at the Abbey Road medley live, but missed out Sun King!
Thanks to the Fab Faux for reinstating this. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
