Looking at the pictures on the Radio 2 website I was surprised to see some show both presenters clutching large sheets of paper whilst sitting on the top of the tram. This would seem to suggest that this rubbish was actually scripted.... amazing. Rolling Eyes

At one point Emma Forbes enthused about people on another passing tram, and urged anyone on that tram to text them. Whatever for???

How much longer can this abomination continue to pollute our Saturday evenings?

Won't the sheets be printouts of the texts and e-mails they're reading, plus the names of the records coming up?

I heard some of it....
it was pretty abysmal radio... is this really what the average Radio 2 listener wants to hear? I don't think so.

I thought yesterday's show was a slight improvement on usual. Still appalling though!

I feel really sorry for Emma Forbes. She can't truly believe that this dross is a suitable vehicle for her abilities. She's really degrading herself by participating at his level. Surely she's not this desperate for work. Crying or Very sad

A good question MiS. He's another one who seems to be everywhere.

I fail to see anything funny about this bloke didnt see the friday night project so can't comment but why was he considered for R2?I listened to one of his shows for about 15 mins and it was pathetic.Got visions of him getting the JR slot when it would be great for Janice to get it or even Alinson Cool

His trailer grates as much as the one for the 'kids club breakfast show' (or whatever it's called). More than a couple of minutes of that voice and I reckon suicidal thoughts would start to creep in!

Next time Carr goes to Blackpool, can someone lock him in the tower and lose the key?

Saturday night on Radio 2 is like standing on the edge of the pier with only a hot cone of chips stopping you from throwing yourself off of said pier when Carr is on. But for the chips and plenty of vinegar I'd of been swept away months ago upon a tide of certain doom and damnation.

Someone make him stop?

Hi everyone, I am a refugee from R2MB. Only on there for a month before it closed down, most of my postings were on the Radcliffe & Maconie thread.

Re Alan Carr, the show is pure aural torture. Honestly if you were locked in silent soilitary confinement and were given the option of listening to this show once a week any prisoner valuing their sanity would opt for continued silence.

Funnily enough the programme is 2 hours long and broadcast pretty much in the slot In Concert filled years ago...think you know where I'm going with this. According to the BBCs reply to my complaint regarding the reduction of R&M to 3 days:

Quote:
It's actually impossible to find another two-hour slot for the new programme without cancelling several other much-loved weekly shows.

Well, look no further than Saturday evenings 6 -8pm. Apologies to all for managing to get on my hobby horse on my very first posting here.

Hello Nigel. I don't think there's anyone on here who doesn't share your dislike of Mr Carr.

He has his fans, and there is a place for his camp sense of humour, on stage.

Filling two hours of Saturday evening radio with puerile twaddle and some cheesy tunes is just perverse.

God help me, but I'm going to agree with Garry Bushell here. He was on 5Live yesterday (running rings round Richard Bacon) and bemoaned the fact that a once-promising stand-up comedian is now peddling out the tired camp persona across TV and radio rather than doing the live work he should be doing.

I, personally, just don't understand why a stand-up comedian would take other work on the busiest night of the week. Dropping him from Radio 2 would do both him and the station a huge favour (and, yes, move Gambo to straight after O'Leary and pop In Concert on at 8 and things are sorted).

Sounds about right. Didn't he initially do a radio comedy show with Lee Mack years ago?

I'd almost forgotten about his early work because of his recent dross.
