I went to see Johnnie Walker at Alnwick Playhouse tonight, his last venue for this year's autumn season of talks about his life from being a pirate to the present. Some great comments, jokes and stories recounted.

He even read out my question "what are your views on the recent 'celebrities' who have been 'parachuted' into slots on R2?" - before replying, he told the audience "I guess you're an Alan Carr fan then, Graeme!"

We had a brief chat after the show - a rather interesting evening was had by all.

Which R2 presenters - past and present - have you met?

I saw Johnnie Walker last month. He opened up proceedings by asking how many Chris Evans fans there were. If there were any in the audience, they didn't admit it! I saw Sarah Kennedy twice in Guildford for book signings. As performers I saw Steve Harley (at the time he was presenting Sounds Of The Seventies) at Guildfest. Paul Jones. Compereing at Guildfest were Bob Harris, Janice Long and Sally Boazman (not only has she DJ'd but also announced the turns on stage) and occasional R2 presenter Chris Hawkins at Guildfest.

I've shaken hands with and was too tongue-tied to say much more than Hello to David Jacobs and Noel Edmonds, the former when I was about ten, the latter about thirty, on which basis I'm overdue for another treat. Smile

I met Johnnie Walker a couple of years back and he chatted like he'd known me for years. He also signed my copy of his autobiography with "To Colin - really nice to meet you" which is jolly nice of him!!!

Alnwick Playhouse, blimey, that’s a blast from the past, Cher. The times I queued there in the 70s. Gosh.

R2 DJs I’ve met. Alex Lester, Chris Evans in the early years- he was at Radio 1 then, Sarah Kennedy- we worked together briefly in the early 90s.

(Pity you didn’t ask about racing drivers, I have a much more impressive list) Smile

Would love to see Johnnie one of these days his tour. I should have made the journey to Newcastle last year Sad

Have met Jeremy Vine twice on his show. He's very unassuming and easy to talk to. Have a lovely autograph in my book as well.

Also Ken Bruce, Lynn Bowles, Paul Jones, Deadly, Sally Traffic, Noel Edmonds (when he was at Radio 1) and Alan Boyd, Gary Bones. Also met Terry Walton, JV's allotment holder, at the allotment a couple of times.

I fell over on the steps of the Granada TV studios right in front of Kenny Everitt who was just getting out of a taxi. I was wearing a cape coat at the time, with my arms still under the coat, which meant that not only was I rolling around like a giant skittle, unable to get to my feet unaided, I also stuck my elbows out in front of me to cushion the impact which pulled my coat right up at the back..... and.. well you get the general idea. It was in the days of mini skirts....

KE said "Mmmmmm nice."

But I don't think his heart was in it. Wink

This almost matches Chris Evans in tenuousness but Rev Frank Topping, who used to do Pause for Thought quite often, once brought his one-man show here and I was fortunate to have a long chat with him afterwards.

I met Chris Tarrant a few years at a Capital Radio event.

I spent a few minutes chatting to him-he was very friendly-I remember him cracking lots of jokes to the group I was in-he made us all laugh.
