I see the BBC have been promoting the Beatles again as news... Rolling Eyes

but who is going to pay £18 to download an album when you can buy the CD for £9 ? Rolling Eyes

It's news because Beatles material has never been available online from proper sources like itunes.
Watch them get to number 1 on a regular basis when they do.

I rarely buy music on CD any more. I just don't want the clutter.

Let's not forget that there's now a whole generation of people who don't buy their music on physical media and who now rely on the iTunes Store to buy downloads instead. To date, they haven't had the opportunity to buy Beatles material but as from today they do.

What's good about this is that there will be many, many younger people who will sample Beatles music - either track by track or as a complete "album" - for the first time and who stand a good chance of being knokced out by it.

That's a good thing and, as undiscovered points out, it has the potential for re-shaping music sales statistics for some time to come. Let's face it, the "iTunes Chart" is quite possibly the only chart that counts any more - and it's global.

I have all the Beatle's albums on stone tablet, parchment, wax cylinder, 78, 45, 33 rpm records, reel to reel, cassette, CD, hard drive, remastered CD, and Digital CD...
so I don't think I'll bother with any more... Razz

If EMI don't allow itunes to sell the tracks at 79p like most others they will miss the market opertunity

The delay must surely be down to Apple Corps. It's no coincidence that since The Beatles got rid of the bloke who'd run Apple for 40 years ("protecting the brand") the songs have turned up everywhere. And quite right too, frankly.

Has anyone else noticed that over the years you never seemed to see Beatles albums / CDs in the reduced section in record stores? Rolling Eyes

It does seem different these days but I dont think I'm seen them in the 2 for £10 section yet.

Yep, Neil Aspinall. Shown the door well before he died because he was guarding the rights too rigidly and not allowing the sort of exploitation of The Beatles brand that could be made nowadays.

With The Beatles going on iTunes the X-Factor decided to have a night of songs by them and Shaun Keaveny said he would be round to Wagner's' house to make sure he had to draw Incapacity Benefit if he murdered the song he chose to perform.....not quite sure what he meant by if .... Twisted Evil
