Well-known "dragon" Duncan Bannatyne is a regular user of Twitter, and this morning he's been posting the same tweet fairly regularly:

Listening to @achrisevans On Radio 2 this morning. Best morning radio show by far now |
Apart from the fact that I couldn't agree with him less, I do find it odd that he's pushing this. What's on the boil, I wonder?
Recently, Evans managed to get himself embroiled in an (apparent) Twitter and Blog spat with someone called "LordSugar" (or it may be "Lord_Sugar") and the two were quite rude to each other. What's interesting is that the user named "LordSugar" possesses Twitter "verified" status.

I like that Duncan chap, straight talking, no nonsense kind of guy- he's usually right too- so if he says the CE Breakfast Show is the best around then it probably is. I wouldn't know, I only listen to one Breakfast Show, the CE Breakfast Show, cos I like it, I wouldn't care if it wasn't the best: being the best of something doesn't mean that the best of something is best for you, although in this case it seems for me, it is. Yay! |

I respect your personal view of the "show" Rachel (despite my own negative view of the person in question). What mystifies me is why Bannatyne has been posting the same tweet this morning. It's very unlike him - his tweets are often off-the-cuff and funny. I just find this a bit odd - like he needs to draw attention to the issue. But - what issue? |

I don't know- I don't really get the whole tweet thing. Does Duncan play Golf? Maybe he lost and that's his side bet stake or it's a little thing going on between them that we will read about in the coming weeks. |

I don't think he plays golf. He's playing a different game, it would appear! |

Perhaps he's trying to wind up Lord Sugar.
Do they get on? Does anybody get on with either of them - they're both out of the same mould and appear to be a little aggressive.
Actually I find it pretty unbelievable that either of them has time to waste on something like Twitter, and it's probably one of the staff. To judge by the reviews of his hotels and restaurants I've read I would have thought that Banatyne in particular had better things to concentrate his mind on. _________________ Ron |

In the case of Sugar it probably is a wind-up, but Bannatyne definitely tweets himself and obviously knows his way around social media going by the way he uses Twitpic, Flickr and so on. A few weeks back he posted some fabulous pics of his family holiday to South Africa.
Personally, I wouldn't say Twitter is a waste of time, but it depends how you use it. I've already made two good business contacts through my use of Twitter and I've no doubt that Bannatyne is making the post of the PR opportunities that social media can bring. He does respond to people's tweets in person - whether they're saying nice things about his leisure facilities or not. |
