I was aware of library music for use in TV and Radio via Jonny Trunk's contributions to Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone on 6 Music and through ex-Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips's contributions to that genre.
Trunk was the host on this programme and he spoke to collectors of library music. Jerry Dammers (ex-Specials) was one of the best-known collectors!
The best-known examples of library music were included - the Mastermind theme and News at Ten (Bill Bailey has covered these on tour!), the Grange Hill theme that was also used on Give Us A Clue and the This Is Your Life theme. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I believe the 'News at Ten' theme was written by Johnny Pearson who sadly died recently _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I have a pile of library music LPs and CDs - most of them DeWolfe, Chappell, Studio-G and others. They make fascinating listening - I must dig them out sometime. I have the whole of the Johnny Pearson suite that eventually became known as the main theme, fills and beds for All Creatures Great and Small - a lot of which was never used in the TV series. |
