I saw him last night in his “Happiness” show for about the fourth or fifth time. He is still fantastic entertainment with so many laughs There was a fair number of his old familiar jokes but an amazing array of new material as well. I wish I could remember more of it but his delivery is so fast and so varied I just get swept along on a tide of sheer joy and laughter.
I don't know how he does it at the age of 83. Long may he continue. |

I agree. What I've always liked about Doddy is the fact that he doesn't take his comedy too seriously (or, if he does, he doesn't show it). This contrasts with many stand-up comedians these days who just appear to be working too hard.
I've seen Doddy a couple of times many years ago and he was very, very funny. |

I've met Ken Dodd twice, the first time when I was seven years old and he came to open our local community centre in St Helens and again about six years ago in a solicitors office in Liverpool when we just both happened to be sitting in reception at the same time
He is just as funny in real life as he is on stage and his 'act' is not an act at all - its just him being totally natural
My dad remembered him going round Liverpool door to door selling cleaning materials more than 60 years ago which is where he got the idea for his 'tickling stick'
He's a national treasure and long may he continue to entertain us _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

About 11 years ago I worked with someone who volunteered at our little local theatre where Ken did a one night stand. She came in exhausted the next day - she had left at 12:30 and he was still going strong, having moved everyone who was still there into the bar. and eventually they had to almost throw him out at about 3:00 so the staff could go home!! _________________ "I'm a firm believer in not having to play the hand you're dealt." |
