He has died at the age of 72. What a shame. He was a good little child actor in Oliver Twist and did sterling work as Head of Comedy at the BBC and as a producer of TV comedy during what I think of as the golden era.

Fawlty Towers, The Goodies, The Good Life, Monty Python, Reggie Perrin ... the list goes on.

RIP.

He leaves behind a wonderful legacy including all the comedy shows already mentioned and many others

He has his place in television history but nevertheless a very sad loss
