Should be a good show and I'm looking forward to it but I might have to listen on I Player as I'm busy tonight

Doesn't Jim still sound today exactly the same as when he was on Radio 2?

I listened to this birthday tribute last night and thought it was an absolute delight. Sir Jimmy sounded like a man half his age - if fact a lot more intelligent and knowledgable than at least one presenter half his age. I got very nostaligic for the days when I could listen to Radio 2 for much of the day - how I miss JY, Sir Terry and Sarah Kennedy.

It was a lovely programme and so interesting. As both Ruddles and Essexlady have said, JY sounds nothing like a 90 year old, and still talks vibrantly and humorously. Sheer delight.

Full marks to Ken as well. I thought it was a really good interview.

Can't really add much more to what's been said. It was a delight to hear him sounding so young!

His was the first show I listened to many moons ago on Radio 2 and loved it because as was said last night there was nothing like it anywhere else. I know I learned so much from the various specialist contributors, there was no internet to look up things or as many food programmes as there are now. I used to plan my supermarket shop after I'd heard Tony De Angeli and bulk buy whatever he said would be going up because of poor harvests here or wherever!

As essexlady says happydays that I thought would last far longer than they have. Sad

A great show last night, but sadly reminds me of what R2 has lost Rolling Eyes

I listened on I Player this afternoon and my first thought was why this superb presenter is not given the chance to sit in for Jeremy Vine instead of the dreadful Feltz woman and certain other equally poor substitute hosts

He is totally lucid despite his age and I am sure could more than hold his own on the current Radio 2 schedule

After all people rave about David Jacobs (quite rightly) although his style of music is not for me so why not bring Jimmy back at least on an occasional basis?

What an interesting life he has led which he still seems to be enjoying to the full Smile

I'm sure he could Ruddles but they got rid of him so I don't think they'd ask him to cover, and I wonder if he would accept if they did?
