Don't know why but I've listened to more on Radio 2 this past week than I have in months and I must say I've enjoyed it!

Richard Madeley on breakfast, great. Seems that it was Wogan's old producer in charge, and I even found Zoe more bearable - she sounded more relaxed somehow this time.

Liza Tarbuck as I've said elsewhere was enjoyable on Drive and I even listened to Jo Whiley a couple of times and I heard Dermot this afternoon!

A bit like old times and restored my faith in the station, but not sure if it will last............... Wink Smile

The only weekday shows I've listened to in that period are JV who rather noticeably has had some very 'quiet news day' features over the last few days and Liza Tarbuck once plus the oldies on Steve Wright on a couple of occasions

As far as I am concerned the rest of last week's schedule can quite happily be filed under 'irritating junk' Sad

I heard bits of JV most days, as I usually do. Think they were in holiday mode as I often notice a bit of a change when it's school holidays.

Hmmmm.....

I'll agree to disagree with you H....

RM:

Too many anecdotes about things that he/Judy/his daughter did years ago just because a certain something jogs his memory...but we've got Chris back now so.....

And too much random babbling.

ZB: ok so she lasted two weeks without a tie break situation on PM but still keeps banging on about her bloody dad/family/whatever and the bit last week where the PM contestant was due to get married in two hours time and she just gushed uncontrollably over a wedding FFS......bad radio.

LT : Patronising and totally false. I personally don't like her style but obviously some do.....

Until Bob Shennan stops recruiting standins that are better known for their TV work this is what we will have to accept as the norm on R2 from now on.

The last two weeks have been pretty good, RM throbs between pure genius and gut wrenching nausea and that can be between tracks- he’s so random, which is great. Liza is quite brilliant- you know when you go to a pub near the sea or a river, they have those marks on the wall indicating the level of floods in times past – 1972 for example … oh look if this was 7th January 1972- we’d be up to our waist in water --- but look over here, if this was the 29th March 1984 it would be up to our neck…. you know the sort of thing. If they had those marks for genius in the studio, Liza has just set a new all time high, listen again, and learn folks- Liza is the one to beat.
Zoe was ok – almost a little subdued but ok, nothing wrong with her at all really. Jezza: as mad as cheese but we love him. (I’m surprised no one phoned in yesterday to say that they wanted disabled toilet facilities on the top of Dartmoor- instead of changing the world to accommodate wheelchairs- why don’t they (whoever they are) make wheelchairs that work in the world we have already- all terrain wheelchairs- it’s the way to go)
Alex of course is still beavering away through the night, cheerfully gnawing his way through the darkness, apparently fed up with people asking when he will be on during the day. Well, if ever I see you Alex, I won’t ask that. No. In the same way I never ask a Taxi Driver if they are busy, or what time are they are on till. I ask, have you ever delivered a baby on this seat? I’ll ask you, have you ever buzzed the tower in your plane, or perhaps, do you pretend to be Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader when you’re flying? This is red five, I'm going in. Smile
