The Theatre Bar seems a rather quiet spot Smile

I was wondering if any of you go to local shows and plays performed by local societies and drama groups.

I've been involved with a local musical/operatic society in Farnborough Hants for 27 years and it certainly has kept me busy in that time. I've taken part in over 40 shows in that time.

There are some nice theatres around Lowestoft and i used to do a bit of acting when i was a teenager should go more often

It can be great fun - although reherasals can be a drag.

We perform two shows a year and rehearse for each show over a six month period. It can get quite tiring in the last month or so but the week of performing always makes it worthwhile.

Our next production is "The Sound of Music - one we've never actually done before.

I went to a panto a couple of weeks ago, Robin Hood, performed by an Am Dram society. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will go again. Looking at the plaque on the wall, with names of previous patrons, that included Sybil Tghorndike and Michael Redgrave, to name but two. Lovely little theatre.

We don't do pantos - just shows and, on rare occasions, opera or operetta.

After The Sound of Music we shall be putting on The Wizrd of Oz and The Producers.

One of our major problems is that audience levels have been declining quite markedly over the past 15 or so years. The generation that were once regulars at local productions are dying off and the younger people coming along (by younger I mean the under 50s) do not seem to have any interest or even awareness of what is going in in their local areas.
