London is full of happy smiling people; I feel like a stranger in my own city.

Lovely. I was with a client of mine today who lives at Canary Wharf and he was saying that the general atmosphere in central London is something to savour - and people do seem to have a happier disposition.

I think the Olympics has already managed to achieved what many people hoped it would achieve - to lift people's spirits and restore a sense of national unity in what are otherwise grim times.

Team GB has done a fabulous job so far. I am, of course, eagerly awaiting the outcome of my second-cousin Tom Daley's performance in the diving singles. That, for me, is "the big one"!!!

According to a friend who lives down there, it has a lot to do with the fact that the place is full of people who really want to be there, to watch and enjoy the Olympics, coupled with the absence of the typical grumpy tourists, who have stayed away, and a lot of those in the business and financial community, who have chosen this fortnight to go away on holiday.
