Another U -Turn. Could cost the Government in the long run, even though it's helping the consumer. Every little helps.

It's not exactly a U Turn because it is still going to happen - only the timing is different

It will be interesting to see the reaction in January which is traditionally a difficult time of year for many people with the hangover of paying for Christmas Smile

The Sun newspaper was largely behind the postponement of the increase.
Murdoch is clearly trying to impress!

He's thinking of splitting the company in two.

He isn't "thinking of" it personally, News Corp is being forced to. And quite right too. If Murdoch and his Mafia had its way, there would be only one media conglomerate in the world.

He wants rid of the troublesome newspaper and publishing side, which is worth but a tenth of the whole but probably (at the moment) is the tenth that keeps him awake at night. He'll sell out as soon as it's demerged.

Yep, I'm sure you're right. Newspapers are "old media" and Mafia Man Murdoch is astute enough to know where the future lies. Not to mention, of course, that News Corp's institutional are forcing this de-merger on the grounds that they want to be rid of any ongoing association with the scandal at Wapping.
