Good to see that at last a new memorial dedicated to the thousands of airmen who died in the Second World War has opened today. It is about time there was something like this to remember the bravery of those airmen.
Sad though that Robin Gibb, who done so much to help raise funds for it did not live long enough to see it's completion, I'm sure he was looking down and smiling.

It would be a helluva lot of money wasted if it weren't done in a good cause!

I completely agree - I think that this is long overdue as a tribute to all those really brave pilots who put their lives on the line to protect traditional British freedoms

Sadly in our current society many of these cherished freedoms are now constantly being eroded on the alter of political correctness and it's almost become off limits to praise the likes of Alfred 'Bomber' Harris

Well I for one do so - the only thing he was guilty of was getting British retaliation in before the enemy could obliterate our nation Smile

Excellent documentary was broadcast last week. It was called 'Who betrayed the bomber boys?', narrated by Stephen Fry. In keeping with the shameful neglect of the role played by these young chaps, it was broadcast on Yesterday - I missed it on TV, but found it on-line and watched it there.... very humbling.
