Quote:
You won't see them every day, and they rarely run when you might actually want to use them - but they're beloved by rail enthusiasts.

"Parliamentary" trains - also known as "ghost" trains - are strange services which often run just once a week and in one direction.

They exist in order to keep certain lines open, because without them the train operators would often have to close the route - something which costs time and money.

But tracking these trains down - and taking a journey on them - is the particular passion of a select group of ghost train "hunters"

Hey Mark, it was news to me.

Colin, Mark is keeping me in touch with the world. I don't watch TV much and I don't have news-streams on my mobile or laptop so, carry on Mark!

So why go to the effort of posting a link to an old story?

Nice.

OK, I'll ask my neighbour what he had for breakfast this morning and post a news story about it!

Colin... yes sorry it did sound rude!! You do seem to follow me and seem to have a negative approach against me and all of my threads / posts. Your not the only person on these forums... Never mind it all goes over my head Smile

I can remember it was mentioned on JV show on Radio 2 sometime ago and on the TV. I think the BBC were making a story about it, as Rail buffs were using the rail lines. I can see the benefits what the rail companies are doing plus saving money.

No it doesn't, because if it did you wouldn't have bothered replying here!

Anyhow, all I do is to question why you go to the effort of copying and pasting links to so-called "news" stories that most people can't really be that interested in, and usually they're usually well reported elsewhere (ie: on Radio 2, as often happens).

Your not getting the point. This is an open forum for everyone too discuss subjects whether copy or pasted!? Not everyones listening to Radio 2 or watching the TV + plus catching up with news items, at the same time!! As an example John hasn't heard about this " News Story " - and he's one who could be interested, even though your not. Very Happy

I am getting the point, Mark. The question I ask is a simple one, after all.

Yes, but that's all you do - copy and paste a link to something-or-other and paste it. You always have done. I just don't see the point of doing that and little else.

Are your "stories" that important? So the handful of people who regularly log in here are going to feel deprived if they don't get a link to something half-relevant to their daily lives? I think not!

At least Mark is trying to get a discussion going, yet all some people want to do is sneer and snipe, it's getting rather wearing.

Keep going Mark.

Keep going Mark. This section IS News and Current Affairs and yes 'news' is often 'olds' .

Interesting for me, as I don't buy newspapers, I hardly watch TV, I don't listen to R2's news bulletins, I don't read Yahoo's news articles..... but I DO read your postings! Smile
