Another highly-talented entertainer graduates to the great entertainment show in the sky. I was genuinely quite saddened to read this...

He was one of the world's greatest funnyman going right back to his days of writing for The Goons through his wonderful 60's and 70's TV series and really pretty much right up to the end

A man with a razor sharp wit and I for one will miss him greatly Sad

Yes, agree with all that has been said. I just had to look at him to feel a smile coming on. There are some great stories about when he and Spike shared an office.

This news saddened me greatly when I heard it today...many times we hear it said of people that we won't see their like again and in Eric Sykes's case this is very true.He was a uniquely talented man who always made you feel better for seeing him....he will be sadly missed.

RIP

A very tenuous and fleeting claim to fame I have is that once once found myself directly behind Eric in a queue in Tesco of all places. Laughing

Anyway he was one of the greats, whenever I saw him interviewed he seemed like an absolute gent, he'll be very greatly missed.

We had an "encounter" with him once, too. Many years ago my wife and I were driving out of London late one evening on the M1 and this oldish Rolls Royce drifted out in front of us into the middle lane. I flashed the headlights and had a moan (as one does) and as we later passed the car, my wife looked at the driver with the intention of giving him a good scowl - and Eric Sykes turned to her, grinned mischievously and blew her a kiss!

I assure you my story is absolutely true and Colin's sounds perfectly plausible.
