Seems the US don't learn from control of Gun laws as killings are still happening.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20738025

I think the only President had control was - President Ronald Reagan who will forever be remembered fondly by Second Amendment supporters, many of who are among the American conservatives who consider Reagan a poster child of modern conservatism. But words and actions of Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, left behind a mixed record on gun rights.

His presidential administration did not bring about any new gun control laws of significance. However, in his post-presidency, Reagan cast his support to a pair of critical gun control measures in the 1990s: 1993’s Brady Bill and 1994’s Assault Weapons Ban.

The pro-gun lot will say the teachers should have guns in their drawer, then they could have dealt with the gunman.

Well I for one would not like teachers with access to guns, not with the bad days some of them have in the classroom!

I expect there will be a US campaign to ban the ownership/access to guns for anyone with certain mental health problems.

The Newtown gunman will likely be revealed as a bit of a nutter I expect, with a dubious history.

The guns were his mother's yet he had knowledge of how to load these weapons, skill/experience of how to aim and fire, had access to more ammunition than his mum would need, and he had his own combat gear.

If obsessed nutters want to get their hands on guns they will - irrespective of the gun laws

Just look at incidents in our own country like Hungerford and Dunblane where our own restrictions on the ownership and holding of weapons was totally ineffective

Perhaps the whole 'care in the community' thing has a great deal to answer for Sad

Saw figures today saying the number of guns in USA is 89 out of 100 adults, not surprising.

But I was surprised by the UK figure which apparently is 6 out of 100. Might seem low but that does suggest there might be 6 guns in our street!

6! Well as a street of medium affluent well-off folk maybe there isn't six on our street, but turn right and then second right and I expect there are probabaly 6 guns on THAT street!
