Anyone else looking forward to this tonight? The cast is good but as usual there is some apprehension about how well the characters come over when one is so familiar with the books.

I'm not familiar with the books,Eileen, but quite enjoyed the old fashionedness of it but I have to say I was disappointed in the BBC to see they allowed the use of the word a**e in a Sunday teatime production.

In the same way I don't expect Tony (from The Sopranos) or Omar (The Wire) to go around saying 'flipping heck' I don't expect to hear language, such as this, coming out of the television on a Sunday teatime when youngsters might be watching leading them to think it is perfectly acceptable language... Sad

I was a bit disappointed. I love the Blandings books which make me laugh out loud. I hope that this TV offering doesn't put off would-be readers of the books as they are a total joy.

As to the word you mentioned, Becky, I too was a bit surprised and will re-read the book to check (when I have finished my current read which is "Death Comes to Pemberley" by PD James - a crime sequel to "Pride and Prejudice". It's pretty good.)

I thought last night's episode was a big improvement with a lot of laughs. Brilliant how Mr Popjoy aka Bingham misunderstood Freddie's mouthed message NOT to say he spoke Portuguese and went and did exactly that and dropped himself right in it. Bingham also did "clumsy" very well!

I was half inclined not to bother with this anymore,Eileen, but after seeing your post I watched my recording of this episode and chuckled a lot throughout it . Very Happy

The scenes between 'Mr Popjoy' and Lord Emsworth were predictable but very funny, still.

Timothy Spall is a joy to watch as Lord Emsworth.

I tried to watch this last night, but fell asleep doing so.
Mind you, it hadn't helped being forced to watch Miranda earlier on.
