...in Double Trouble on Radio 4 Extra.
The golden wireless age of Bud Flanagan and Chesney Allen. Stuart Maconie celebrates great British comedy duos. With Roy Hudd.

In this episode Stuart tells how Chaim Reuben Weintrop ( I wondered, at first, who he was talking about) and Chesney Allen (apparently Chesney Hawkes was named for him) came to be the much loved double act they were.
A nice listen
This coming Saturday it's Jewel and Warriss |

Cheers Becky. Listened to and very much enjoyed.
There was something special. about Bud and Ches, Eileen, I agree.
I found out a couple of months ago, from my eldest brother, that our other brother, sadly long gone, had a bed next to Bud, in the 50's, when he was (my brother) in King's College Hospital. He said he was a miserable old sod, but I'm not having that...besides, we loved the Crazy Gang in our family. I can just about remember them in a couple of very early Royal Variety Shows. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

Perhaps where he was had something to to with his mood at that particular time... |
