Im not going to poll this as it could be controversial and cause problems within this community. Just a quick question -

" What does everyone think about Muslim women who work in the NHS wearing of the full face veils whilst treating patients?"

Patients should know who they are talking too. Some patients could become scared like the elderly.

There are certain situations such as this where veils should not be worn out of courtesy to others.
Teaching is another, sometimes you need to be able to see somebody's face.

Well at the risk of being controversial I think that all face coverings should be banned completely in this country

We have the largest number of CCTV cameras of any country in the world supposedly to make our society safer - if we are to believe what we are told - so how can this be achieved if certain people have the right to opt out by covering their faces for whatever reason (or rather excuse) they choose

As I understand it the Koran makes no mention of the need for women to wear veils and the like - the truth is that in the archaic world of Islam women are still regarded as property of their husband - and husbands simply don't want third parties eyeing up their spouses

If certain individuals don't like the rules of our society then there's a simple answer - get out of this country and move to an Islamic state where such practises are normal Rolling Eyes

In the UK it is normal practice to be recognisable by facial features when out and about. Everyone without exception should adhere to this practice. The only exception that I can imagine would be if the person in question has to wear a bandage due to injury, or has a severe disfigurement.

Senior Muslim leaders have said that there is no religious rule for women to hide their faces. The hijab (simple head scarf) should be enough.

Getting this sorted once and for all would stop all these individual cases being raised ad infinitum. There is nothing islamophobist or racist in this. It is a case of "when in Rome". If I ever went to visit a country where it was the custom for women to wear a veil - I would wear a veil. Similarly, I would not enter, say, a cathedral with bare arms if that was deemed offensive in that country. One respects the customs of the country in question - or one doesn't go there.
