Heard of this yesterday. He was also one of the stars of The Girl From Uncle in the late 60s.

Unfortunately he was a bit of a one-hit wonder who lived in the shadow of his more famous father. I loved "Windmills", though, and even now it sounds unique and fresh. Dusty Springfield's version on "Dusty In Memphis" was superb as well - but Harrison's has the edge, imho.
The song was from the film "The Thomas Crown Affair", wasn't it? It's a long time ago. |

Harrison's was the one, a hit in 69. He was more famous for his acting in the US and I think the song just 'happened' if that makes sense!

Very sad news, I thought Windmills was a great song too.
Thanks for the obituary link Eileen, such a shame that someone can go fro Americas brightest star, to working on a news stand.
It always genuinely upsets me when people are famous and then are just dropped by the media and disappear into obscurity.
I often like browsing the internet to find out where ex celebs are now.
PS Whenever I hear "Windmills Of Your Mind" I always picture this version in my mind.

Now that really takes me back - I used to love The Girl From Uncle and had a secret crush on her
Really sad to hear this news - Windmills was a great track but I must admit I thought it was earlier than 1969 - I know it was featured in the film 'The Thomas Crown Affair' which I thought came out in 1967 but there again I'm the first to admit my knowledge of films is virtually nil _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
