Caught most of last night's edition of Michael Parkinson's series. It's a repeat but I don't think I heard if first time around. Why didn't they put this on Sunday nights instead of Moira Stewart who IMHO talks too much?

Anyway back to the show. It was dedicated to the songs of Sammy Cahn, most of which you'll know and maybe some of the anecdotes as well. I grew up hearing a lot of these songs as both my parents were Sinatra fans and Dad would play them on the piano. I used to curse as I'd want my Beatles' records so maybe that's why I now quite like a lot of these tracks!

I'd forgotten just what a good broadcaster Michael is! Listen again to a few 'classic' tracks, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I'm enjoying hearing Parky's series again. He plays such good records and I have always liked his presentation style. I know he has officially retired but I would love him to do a series of Sunday night programmes after Don Black has finished his next stint.

I know what you mean about Moira Stewart, Helen. Although she does play a lot of good music she doesn't have the personal knowledge about the singers and songwriters in the way that some presenters have (or had) such as Don Black, Parky, Desmond Carrington, Russell Davies, Malcolm Laycock and dear David Jacobs - whom I still miss Sad .

That's it exactly Eileen! I suppose in years to come the younger presenters of today who know the current artists will hopefully be in the same position for presentation.

This was the first of this series that I've heard and looking at the 'episodes' page I don't seem to have missed many so I'll tune in more regularly.
