I have enjoyed some of the recent repeats of classic comedy shows on BBC 2, such as the original Open All Hours, that's not to denigrate the present Still Open All Hours which I think does work, with David Jason as 'Granville' now running the shop. I really did enjoy To The Manor Born as it has been so many years since I last saw that series. And, of course, Hi de Hi. For which I have a question. As the credits roll at the end of each episode, there is footage from (what I presume) is a genuine 1950s holiday camp. I have been wondering which holiday camp was this end credits footage filmed at? And is this camp still going?

I've missed this LEE. I loved To The Manor Born and remember watching the final episode on an almost empty British Airways Tristar from Orlando to Toronto where the majority of the passengers boarded.

Half way through it became apparent that almost all of about 35 passengers were watching and listening through headsets when the captain came on and said he would turn the sound on in the cabin so we could dispense with headsets. Not exactly the norm but enjoyable!

I think it's Butlins in Clacton, which closed in 1983.

Thanks Ian.
Helen. What a shame you missed To The Manor Born. Hopefully they will show it again in the not to distant future. There's still three comedies on in the afternoon on BBC 2, the only one I still watch is Hi De Hi, where they have just bade farewell to Jeffrey (the professor) as entertainments manager and said hello to his replacement, the ex RAF officer along with some new female 'Yellowcoats'. The other two are Some Mothers Do Have Them & Three Up, Two Down, Neither of which I'm keen on, especially the latter one. Much preferring Angela Thorne's character in To The Manor Born, where she was much sweeter. A sign of a good actress I suppose!
