I had occasion, today, to phone one of those places that gives you a multitude of choices, followed by music playing, before you eventually get through to talk to a real person.
When I had finished, the person I was talking to asked if there was there anything else she could do for me and I said (jokingly) could you please make it easier for me to get through on these sort of phone calls and quick as a shot she came back with..." Next time you phone, after the initial dialling, press hagtash then star a few times and it will put you straight through"
Made me wonder if this is common knowledge and I was just late hearing about it. |

It's not something I've heard of Becky but I'll try and remember it!

It is fairly common knowledge Becky
Many years ago someone told me that if you fail to press any options when offered them by default you get put through to a real operative and I've followed that advice for several years _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I'm probably in the minority but am in favour of press button options. At least you get through to the right department fairly quickly, instead of being passed around and fobbed off to the wrong person. |

Certainly new to me (and Helen) ruddles, but handy to know for future reference.
I actually ignored some of the directions with the call today and got through so I found that out by accident!
As for press button options,Schiz, I would just rather have a number to dial, then for someone to pick it up and answer my queries but sadly those days are long gone.

I have just hung on at times when in doubt over which department would actually be the right one and I did get a human being to talk to!

The last one I tried was the HMRC Tax Office, they have a system where they ask you to say what you want to a machine , it was a nightmare I gave up |
