Sir Bob Geldolf and Midge Ure getting new singers together this week end to record " Do They Know It's Christmas " I think it's the 3 time it's been recorded and this time money is for the fight against Ebola. Great idea and hope it reaches number one. The single will retail at 4 quid and 99p download. The video be released soon.

I'll give it a miss, bought the original and it will probably turn out to be the best of the lot.

This will actually be the 4th time this track has been recorded andI think it's rather sad that the original will now be further devalued and for what - to promote the interests of a few of today's mediocre artists and make them look good in PR terms

Plenty of money has already been raised for this cause by other charitable donations and I don't see any need for anyone to jump on this particular bandwagon Rolling Eyes

I don't think the original will be devalued - it's still the one that gets played instead of Band Aid II, Band Aid 20, Barenaked Ladies or any of the other versions.

I don't think we should be too sentimental about the original song - it wasn't exactly a piece of high art!
This is a new generation of pop fans and a new generation of their idols aiming to do something for an excellent cause - I wish them well.

I agree unclebuck. It's this generation of pop stars that will get the money rolling in now - not the stars of yesteryear. As you say the first version, much as I enjoyed it and admired the whole concept, wasn't exactly a vocal, musical or lyrical masterpiece.

I've seen the video for this tonight and the people on it have made a decent job of it.

I hope their efforts make a real difference in the fight against Ebola.

Great cause and obviously it's down to you if people like or hate it. Hats off toSir bob, Midge Ure and Bono. The original is and will only be the best. Band Aid Do They Know It's Christmas ' needs to be rested and put into history books. Young thruster pop stars need to come up with something new.

I completely agree Mark

If today's generation of 'artists' seriously wish to do something for charity which incidentally I very much doubt then they should make some reasonable attempt to come up with something new fresh and credible - but there again we're talking about the likes of One Direction here who have no control over very much of their output - it appears that it's really all down to the man who's certainly wearing the wrong trousers and it's quite likely that Wallace and Grommit would produce a far better effort Smile
