Anyone see it? I thought it was simply brilliant, though a rather unusual take on events of the time. |

I dozed off part way through,Eileen, which I hasten to add was more to do with a busy day rather than this programme's fault.
I enjoyed what I saw and will catch up with what I missed before the next episode.
The death of Cromwell's wife and daughters was heartbreaking to watch. I'd never heard of sweating sickness before watching this.
( I have yet to see Damian Lewis' portrayal of Henry VIII ...I'm a fan of Damians' work and like him in most everything I've seen him in up to now) |

Apparently some viewers complained that Henry didn't appear till the end of the episode. So what, I said to myself, after all Cromwell is the central character here.
It doesn't quite match the history as I've always known it as I thought that Cromwell was the villain rather than Thomas More who is portrayed as being rather evil. I'm assuming that the events are being seen through Cromwell's eyes.
However, as a drama it is beautifully written, directed, acted and photographed. And … I heard every word! |

I heard David Starkey talking ,on the radio, this morning,Eileen, about his new series,Magna Carta, and he was asked what he thought of Wolf Hall. He said (amongst other things) that he thought it was a magnificent, wonderful fiction. He hasn't watched it or read the book mind ...it's just from what he has read and heard about it.
I haven't caught up with it yet ...must rectify that, soon! |

I fell asleep through Wolf Hall (which I've now caught up with) and you,Eileen, through Magna Carta!
Programmes or us?... that is the question.... |

This has been a superb production in every respect.
It will go down as a classic from the BBC!
