One half of the best pair of comedy writers, ever to come from these shores.

Idolised by the others that followed...This is well worth 30 mins of anyone's time.

A sanitorium for TB sufferers hardly sounds the place for humour to stem from but it did for Alan Simpson and Ray Galton who went on to write scripts for classic British comedies that have lived long in the memory.

I watched a programme they were both on a while ago and both seemed lovely men....very happy in each other's company.

Thanks for the link,Raver. I'll definitely be giving that a listen.

Yes, sad news, and thanks for that link, Raver.

That is an interesting point, Becky, but it seems that times of great adversity appear to inspire great comedy. Simpson and Galton were too young to have fought in WW2 but look at all the huge comedy talent which came out of that conflict!

RIP

True,Eileen.

I read the other day that Galton and Simpson thought only people who had been through the war would like Dad's Army...wrong!! Very Happy

(Loved that programme,Raver.)
