Yes it really is 10 years ago today that R2OK began!
Can I just say thanks to John for starting it and letting us continue to chat about R2 even if latterly we seem to be a bit negative about the station!
Happy Anniversary R2OK!

Happy Anniversary, and many thanks to John! We regular posters may be few in number but we like each other and don't go in for aggro |

I can't believe it's 10 years either! So many things I can remember from the early 2000s as if they were only 10 weeks ago rather than years!
Happy 10th R2OK! Come on John, please post a anniversary reply! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Hello to you long time posters here!
Gosh 10 years! Remember all the problems we had with the forum back then, and I don't just mean the trolls - the site was always having technical issues, but nowadays it seems to run well with little attention. The only problem now is just lots of bogus registrations (who don't get approved, but unfortunately remain on the member list).
Anyway, all is well with me. All the R2ok website pages are still there but as I don't listen to Radio 2 anymore I just haven't been updating any of the pages that deal with R2 programmes and presenters.
The R2ok website has become also the location for my own music interests (pre-1950) because Demon/Vodafone decided the Demon domains would be closed, after 20 years! So I was forced to move all my old music website and podcasts over to r2ok.co.uk which is a domain that I own.
I do look in on this forum occasionally when I remember and read all the new posts.
As I don't listen to R2 now, I think it's only right that I ask members here if they want to be in the R2ok Forum admin team, I think it's only me in admin now. So if anyone one, or two, or three of you want to be in the admin let me know, and I'll try and remember how to promote someone to admin.
The forum is completely separate from the r2ok.co.uk website which I have to keep to myself.
There's nothing for forum admins to do really but someone else should be here in case I lose interest completely ) and the design/topics etc can be changed by any admin though I probably can't remember how to do that sort of thing now.
So let me know.

Hello John! Nice to hear from you, and glad all is well. If no-one else volunteers, I'd be happy to be an admin. And if I was, would anyone object to me looking into how to make it compatible with Tapatalk (it's the app I use on my phone, and makes browsing forums easier)? |

Fine by me,Ian.

I'm very much from the school of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but others might feel differently.
Personally, I find this forum very easy to navigate
John..thanks for keeping this forum going. If you do give admin over to Ian perhaps you'll pop in from time to time to see if we're all behaving. |

It wouldn't affect how you browse the forum at all, but it might make it more accessible to phone users, and maybe increase traffic here. |

As long as it doesn't affect the stability of the forum that's fine with me.
Normally I would have volunteered but am a bit snowed under with dealing with my Dad's estate and we are up and down to the NE for a few days every other week or so.

I would echo what others have said in recent posts
I'm quite happy so long as the forum does not substantially change in terms of layout and accessibility but if there's a way of increasing traffic then that's got to be worth considering - although of course 'big' is not always beautiful _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Thanks for responses.
I have (well, I think I have) promoted Ian Robinson to 'Site Admin' and 'Moderator'!
Ian, if this has worked, at the foot of the Index page, in small type, you should find a link 'Go To Administration' page.
There you'll find a long menu down the left hand column. It's a bit old-fashioned I expect, but I think you have the knowledge to find your way around things.
As I say the only problem is the long list of bogus registrations on the member list. I used to delete these but I think they can only be deleted one at a time and you need two screens open to cut and paste and..... and I gave up trying to keep up with all that.
Keep us posted here Ian on how you familiarise yourself with admin.

Thanks John - I'll have a look at it later (but I don't really intend to change anything). |
