I was saddened to learn of the death of Chas Hodges, one half of the duo 'Chas 'n' Dave' whose best known hits include 'Gertcha' & 'Rabbit'. I saw them live at Aldershot's West End Centre in December 2005 and I remember a packed venue that evening. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Saw this on Twitter earlier...very sad news.
You always felt better after seeing Chas and Dave perform...good old fashioned entertainment.
My favourite....probably Ain't No Pleasing You. |

I am very sad to hear this news, Chas and Dave's songs always cheer me up.
When I lived in Kent the owner of the local paper shop had Ain't No Pleasing You played for his misery of a wife on local radio. I heard it and wonder every time I hear the song, if his wife did. I was told that they eventually got divorced. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Legend. Brilliant musician, who'd been around since the late 50's and in many guises. The Outlaws, Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers, Heads Hands and Feet..and with his old mucker Dave Peacock.
I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing him a few times. Had to wait at the stage door once, to get an autograph for a friend, a few years ago. He chatted for ages. I had an idea his cancer had returned, after seeing him cancel a lot of gigs in August on my FB feed. But seeing his Spurs tweets now and again, gave hope that he was winning the battle. I was supposed to see Chas and Dave again, last December, but didn't feel well enough to go, thinking there'll be another time. Feels like a family bereavement today.

And lastly, a lovely tribute from Michael Hann, of The Guardian.
