Not quite the same as John Wilson Orchestra but in the same vein and sounding good as I listen on R3. Just now

It's being televised BBC2 Saurday 7th August. Will post a reminder if I remember!

Will bring back memories to Eileen I'm sure.

Yes, Helen, indeed it will bring back memories. I didn't listen on the radio but will watch it next weekend.

John Wilson will be conducting later in the Proms series and I think the programme includes Ravel and others. I do miss his stage and film musical concerts though.

Eileen the prom with John Wilson conducting the Sinfonia of London Orchestra is televised on September 9th, a Thursday, but on Radio Saturday 4th.

I didn't hear all of it but recorded it on to the Sky Box so will listen another time and of course I'll watch it!

Don't forget the Prom on BBC2 tonight at 6.30 pm.

I also noticed it's on Radio 2 Sunday night is Music Night at 7pm.

I watched it on Saturday evening and enjoyed most of it, especially Jamie Parker, Louise Dearman and Clarke Peters. I did miss seeing John Wilson and his orchestra though. His musicians always look as if they are really enjoying playing that music and also I have seen several of the saxes, trombones and trumpets in other bands over the years, which adds to my pleasure.

I hope next year the JWO will be back to normal at the Proms.

No it wasn't quite the same as it would have been with JWO Eileen. I think I preferred to listen on the radio, as the 'guest' comments sort of took over a bit.

Watching Clarke Peters in The Wire years ago I never thought I would be listening to him sing at the BBC Proms.

It was a delightful programme to listen to. I recorded but haven't as yet watched the TV version.

At the beginning of the year there was a programme on Radio 2 with Elaine Paige presenting the top 20 musical numbers of all time.
The initial longlist was created by an esteemed panel of musicals experts, including musical theatre actor Marisha Wallace, Baz Bamigboye (Daily Mail), Sita McIntosh (WhatsOnStage), and Elaine Paige – which was whittled down to a top twenty.

It was as if Rodgers and Hammerstein (and some others) had never been born.

Well, I didn't hear that programme, Becky, thank goodness. It is quite a bizarre list.

Indeed Eileen.

I was looking forward to the programme but was so disappointed.
