It looks like FIFA are going to allow the Premiership to be able to use technolgy to determine whether "the ball is over the line" in season 2007/08.
For the football fans amongst us do we think this is a good idea/step forward.
I for one certainly this is long over due.
Come on Chelsea. |

I think that technology to determine whether a ball has completely crossed the goal line would be fairly inexpensive to install and would be a move in the right direction. However, they will have to get the officials to abide by the technology and lets not forget they do a very difficult job, especially in these days of winning is all and blow the sportspersonship attitude of many of our top players.

I am no fan of the premiership, much preferring the lesser leagues, but I'll agree with you that it's long overdue. But it should be used in all footie matches, not just the premiership ones. |

Yes I agree with you there me lord, the ref's cannot always be in the right place to be certain if the whole of the ball has crossed the line, I think on the whole the officials/refs do a great job. 2 weeks ago while watching a junior under 9 league football match, which was a top of the table clash, with neither the ref or the linesman able to see clearly if the ball crossed the line, the goal was dis-allowwed. I was taking photos, next to the goal, and am certain that the ball crossed the line, however, I am a spectator and kept my opinion to myself. The result was a draw, so this could determine who wins the league out of these 2 under 9 teams. But the ref can only make a decision on what he and his assistant refs see and without them and their dedication, out there every weekend, there would be no junior leagues anyway.

Weren't they winning everything and presumably the opposition weren't scoring many goals so they didn't need the technology on their goal as the ball didn't go over the line.
I think it's changed now though as they aren't doing as well.
Understand now ? |
