At last it's finished and we don't have to listen to those diabolical trailers every few minutes.
Even Chris Evans was making waspish comments this week about having to play the trail.
I don't know much about Simon Fuller (apparently he was something to do with The Spice Girls and David Beckham? - wow!) , but that trailer convinced me that I never want to...... the sort of radio that makes you consider moving to a cave somewhere remote. |

Absolutely agree - why does the current Radio 2 seek to make such big deals out of people who are really no more than a minor and passing blip in the context of the last 60 years of popular music _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Those trails were awful. I knew who he was but why do we need to hear about him? They are really scraping the barrel with these documentary series.

I'd say he is quite a significant pop culture figure, and worthy of a documentary series. Whether this was done well, I'm not sure, but Radio 2 have run series on Berry Gordy and Alan McGee (for instance) so why not Fuller? |

I agree. Fuller played an important role in the development of pop music and it's quite reasonable that he should be profiled regardless of our thoughts on the likes of The Spice Girls.
That said, I too got sick of hearing the trails, and I only listen for a couple of hours each day! |

Maybe it's an age thing, but I think Berry Gordy far more worthy of a series as Motown music is and IMHO will always be far superior to anything Simon Fuller was involved in. _________________ 88 - 91 FM this is Radio 2 from the BBC!

I have the four-part Berry Gordy series on MiniDisc - and I discovered them only the other day. They date from the late 90s, I recall. Must transfer them! |

It's much better when I discover them while my wife isn't around. "Do you really need to keep all this junk?" is what I normally get! |

I don't think one can compare Fuller with the likes of Berry Gordy or Alan McGee
Gordy was a major player in influencing a whole genre and generation of music and McGee set up Creation Records which again set the tone for the whole Britpop era
Compared to this what has Fuller actually achieved in the world of music - answer very little
Like Simon Cowell he's an astute businessman who managed to turn five girls who couldn't sing into the biggest act in the world for a couple of years
Well done to him for achieving that but it really has nothing to do with musical ability or artistic talent _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
