Mention of Jimmy Savile on the forum got me checking the R2ok R2 Timeline page to see if he gets a mention, but he doesn't, I suppose he never actually presented a show on R2?
Anyway, I'm shocked and embarrassed to say that the R2 Timeline page
http://www.r2ok.co.uk/R2_timeline.htm
hasn't been updated since last year.
I'll have to trawl the Beeb website for new presenters, recent new shows, schedule changes etc, and put in entries for late 2011 and 2012.
Folks here can help me if they know suitable entries to add. _________________ -

John
I'll check back through any recordings I made to see if there is anything and post back later.
One addition I can think of is Liza Tarbuck's Saturday show which I think started in May 2012.
Bill Kenwright's Golden Years began a second series in November 2011, Tuesday nights
Hope that's of help.

I think most will be at the weekend. Anneka Rice has the early breakfast slot on Saturdays, while at the other end of the day, Dave Pearce has his hour long show of dance music late saturday nights.
Steve Lamacq (who used to be in Dave Pearce's current slot) now has his Rock College late Thursday nights. Mark Radcliffe occupies the same slot on Tuesday nights with his Music Club.
Hoping this helps with the update. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Thank you Helen and LEE, that will get me started, I'll be able to find the start dates etc for these schedue changes if I dig deep enough into the Beeb site. I think the BBC press office bulletinsw are archived somewhere and they should be useful.
And just a note to say that I had an email from the widow of Adrian Love, asking me to enter his date of death in the Timeline. Adrian gets just 3 mentions in the Timeline. His wiki page makes for sad reading with regard to his exit from the Beeb and his death. _________________ -

I'll take a look at that sometime John. I used to enjoy Adrian's afternoon programme and his jingle 'love in the afternoon'.

So far the only update I've added is for Adrian Love, his widow was pleased now that I added a photo and a death notice for year 1999.

You've reminded me John that I have some recordings of old shows that I've been putting together for you - just short clips of a minute or so. I'll get my act together and send them to you.
If you come unstuck on any dates I have Radio Times going back 30+ years.

Can anyone tell me what happened to the drama programme that used to be on on a Friday night at 9-15?
I ask because I'm currently listening to The Scarlet Pimpernel on Radio 4 Extra and it has been said that it was first transmitted on Radio 2 . I know the story well and wasn't sure whether I would bother with it but the excellent narration of Damien Lewis has drawn me in and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
(I had a quick look at the timeline but couldn't see it) |

You've got me thinking now Becky. I'm not sure that I remember it at all but it does sound a tiny bit familiar if that doesn't sound stupid!

Your memory is so good on matters pertaining to Radio 2,Helen,that I begin to doubt myself but I'm sure, as I can be, that I used to listen to dramas on R2 on a Friday night. |

I don't remember listening to it but that's not to say I didn't hear trails for it!

If I remember correctly, there used to be a show at 7pm, then Friday Night Is Music Night at 7.30pm. Then Book of the Week at 9.15 and another 30-min show (eg Listen To The Band) at 9.30pm before The Radio 2 Arts Show at 10pm
The book readings included a James Bond season, but was one of the first things to go in the cutbacks. |

This should be a very useful link: http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/schedules/radio2/2003-11-20#at-19.00
Ignore the date, that was because I was looking for something at the time. You can actually search just about any BBC radio station, and also TV. Hoping it helps. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Thanks for the information,Ian - I wouldn't have thought someone reading from a book would have cost that much but what do I know?
The date you posted LEE was the 20th of November 2003. I tried the Friday after that and found that at 9-15 on that date Stephen Tompkinson was reading the final part of Kes (A Kestrel For A Knave) by Barrie Hines so thanks that link was helpful.
( I did have a quick look on the forum as I thought you had previously posted a website about Radio 2 schedules but I couldn't find it) |

You're welcome Becky. I'm glad it helped, but you're not just stuck with 2003, you can select different months & years as well as radio & TV stations. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

No, me neither. I read an article from the independent production company who was very upset when Radio 2 cancelled them, but I think in the first round of cuts they were just trying to find things that perhaps weren't essential to the station (despite a commitment in the SOPP). I remember our old friend Scott would moan about them every few weeks. |

Statement of Programme Policy - in which Radio 2 states how much music, talk, arts, current affairs, etc they will do in a year.
The most recent one is here:

I notice the targets (eg 60 hours of spoken word) are no longer there. |
