It really is,Helen
Sara Cox paid a heartfelt tribute to him on Radio 2.
He was one of those larger than life people so all the more difficult to comprehend and take in.

Sara Cox and Jo Whiley have been brilliant tonight. Hearing Bobbie break down while reading the travel was heart-breaking. |

What a shock and what a loss. There was nobody to touch him, even if he did like to talk over the intro of a record.
Those magnificent Radio 1 shows he did, made work a more bearable place to be, in the 80's. His Radio 2 shows were different, but still better than anything else.
I believe that his heart was broken when they took his afternoon slot away from him. But he loved working for the Beeb and he swallowed his pride.
Thanks for the memories, Steve. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |
