From his comments, I gather next Sunday will be Richard's last Sunday show.
Anyone know what's happening? _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Yes I heard that Andy-it's a great shame.
I hope Richard is getting ready to take over from Terry Wogan who I think wil be retiring shortly. |

In your dreams I think you are right about Terry retiring but it will almost certainly be Chris Evans who gets the gig. |

Is he leaving? Blimey that will be a great shame if true to the oxford listeners as the station as increased it's listening figures.
Now the speculation starts |

I don't listen to that so I'm not bothered who gets the slot as it were. |

Poor guy needs one day off a week! I'll miss the Sunday mornings with Richard, especially since they seem to have fixed the streaming problems.

Yeah, and it's a great show, hope his Saturday show remains. Could have something to do with the fact he had a business meeting with the bosses around Christmas time, also his R2 page dissapeared - maybe an update is in the offing, new show perhaps?
Oooh the conspiracy theorist in me is taking over!! Perhaps we'll find out next Sunday. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Well Helen is right he does need time off. His profile was removed from the radio 2 website, hence he's not returning? |

It sounded like he's only giving up the Sunday show but I could be wrong.

Could Allinson be moving to a daily Radio Oxford slot? The station has been getting record ratings since he started there, although they seem strangely reluctant to mention it. |

I do see on their website that they have no permanent breakfast show presenter on weekdays. Maybe he is going to do that show? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I'm still holding out for drivetime. I think that way he'll still be able to do the BFBS slot, which is a great 2 hours show, love the format.
Still. it's been a great 12 months listening to the Oxford Sunday show. Apart from Rich having a great show (bit of a dodgy quiz) I've gotten into some other Oxford shows and starting to broaden horizons - not just R2.
Anyway, we may find out tomorrow what's occuring. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Yes, still doing the Saturday Album show but having Sunday off. No mention of a move just a day of rest. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

No drama then with Richard-as you say Andy just having a rest on a Sunday.
Still think a Radio 2 "calling" is not completely out of the question. |

Yes Helen-2 mentions in the one show-fantastic stuff.
You must be a big fan of Richard's and he knows it.
By the way what are we are all going to be listening to next Sunday morning. Any recommendations from anyone-no Steve Wright's Sunday Love songs is not a good suggestion for me. |

Mark, I may try the replacement show on Oxford - see what it's like.
Alternatively, there are some day's during the week I can't get to listen to Rich's show on BFBS (work sometimes get's in the way - I'm a trainer and just occasionaly have to be in a training room with people....very inconvenient!) so I may be 'listening again' to any day's I missed.
Anyone else got any ideas? _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Likewise Andy-I am a sales professional in a financial services company so like you I sometimes miss Richard's daily show live as I have to go and see potential new customers-very inconvient-still I try and catch Richard's show on the Listen Again feature during the week to leave my weekends free.
Also like I think in the absence of any decent recommendations I will give Richard's replacement a go. |

Yeah, works a pain ain't it. Still, when I'm at my desk not training, I can put me headfones in the PC and listen then.
Let's see what the new show is like next week. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Not sure what I'll listen to, might just tune in to Oxford as well, as old habits die hard!
Wonder what his last track will be? We haven't had any Dusty yet.....

Yeah, that's a thought, Helen. Dusty would be great to finish wouldn't it.
It's nice when you hear other posters mentions isnt it! Heard Mark O on Bob Harris last night. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Yes it is Andy. Ginger over on Jezzas had a mention on Ken Bruce on Friday - he's just become a Grandad and we'd had a thread all about it. I'd not have picked up on the dedication otherwise.
Good film tracks so far!

Hello Lord-Richard Allinson brought the curtain down on his Sunday morning show with a song from Snow Patrol.
I thought Richard was very gracious in his goodbyes. Not sure I understand your comment re the Steve Wright treatment-Richard just said goodbye-he was short and sweet. |

Well he does need a break. Driving to and from Oxford every weekend, and driving to his BFBS show and called up to cover Sarah last week and moaning about the congestion charge. ( Maybe he could use public transport in and around london but thats another issue.
I dont think he will have time to take on a full time job at R2. |

Hello Mark, thanks for your answer and to answer your question, 'Steve Wright moments / treatment' is the playing of a record and letting it go unannounced. Steve Wright is one of the chief offenders, if not, the chief offender. Berluddy annoying whoever does it and they all have at one time or another, so not a personal swipe at Richard Allinson. Does anyone know which Snow Patrol track it was? It sounded good, hence my interest in it. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Hello Lord-Apologies for the delay in responding.
Richard signed off yesterday on BBC Radio Oxford with the Snow Patrol song "You're All I Have"-an excellent group and one of Richard's favourite bands. |
