I can't remember when I last listened to something on AM radio - Radio 1 probably, before the launch of ILR in the 70s. Sound quality is prehistoric and the band will surely not be missed.
FM is a different matter. Like television, digital gives us lots more channels to choose from, but the sound quality is inferior and they're prone to interruption. The sets are ludicrously expensive, both to buy and in energy (battery) terms.
However, like tv, I daresay we shall have little choice but to put up with it and this "consultation" is but one step on the road towards the inevitable demise of analogue radio. _________________ Ron |

I think you're right there ernie, DAB quality & reliability would have to be considerably improved, IMHO, as it seems, in this neck of the woods, to be frequently adversely affected by differing atmospheric conditions.

My escape from the drivel that is now the usual R2 midweek afternoon fare at work is 6 music. At work there are those lights that switch on/off automatically when I walk into that area and when they switch off, that can sometimes interfere terribly with my radio when in DAB mode. With me just walking down there to turn them on, on the worst days! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

AM is STILL my refuge from incompetence at 5pm. 5 live's figures go up at this time. _________________ Geddon
