Let's hope nothing goes wrong with the engines, otherwise who will fix them? Smile

Good to see his remains heading for the final frontier....

These low orbit satellites dont stay in orbit for very long, so presumably Scotty will burn up on re-entry before too long and he will last be seen streaking across the sky some evening...........

I've just heard that 70 miles up the nose cone of the rocket detaches and drops back to earth with the canisters of ashes - apparently there are 200 people's ashes on this trip. All a bit silly in my opinion.

So it will be raining ashes tomorow. Better get the washing out early then.

A rocket containing the ashes of Star Trek actor James Doohan has not yet been found, two weeks after it returned from the edge of space.

A portion of Doohan's ashes, along with 200 others, were launched from a site in New Mexico on 28 April.

The rocket reached its planned altitude of 72.7 miles (117 kms) before coming down in a mountainous area.

Operator Space Services Inc said the craft had locator beacons, but that bad weather had hampered the search.

Doohan played Scotty, the Enterprise's straight-talking engineer, in the original TV series and several movies.

Recovery operation

He died aged 85 in 2005 after suffering from Alzheimers for several years.

Also on the flight were the ashes of astronaut L Gordon Cooper, one of the first men into space.

Space Services offer several types of memorial flights, including putting remains into orbit or sending them into space before returning them to earth.

A company spokesman said: "The terrain is very mountainous; it's not somewhere that you can walk or drive to. My understanding is that it will take some time to get up there."

"They know the general location, and we have the utmost confidence that they will recover it."

I'd forgot Gordo's remains were onboard - one of the original "Mercury Seven" astronauts (he flew in Mercury 9 and Gemini 5, notching up over 200 hours in space).

The rocket didn't accidently enter the neutral zone between our space and Romulan territory did it? Shocked

Those Romulans could never take a joke Laughing

All hands to battle stations!

Thankfully the 'bun' hairstyle disappeared after the first couple of seasons, then again she started to have competition from the female Borg, "48 of DD"....

Also in honour of him, Alan Shepperd, Virgil (Gus) Grissom, and Scott Carpenter, the Tracy Boys from Thunderbirds were named.

Scotty has been found. It looks like they sent into space in a dustbin.
