First of all, an apology--I know there's another thread somewhere re the current Meatloaf tour but I can't find it so shall have to start a second one.

Went to see him at the Newcastle Arena last night, not because I wanted to but in order to give my wife, who's a fan, an opportunity to attend.

I have informed Mrs W that I now consider that area of my marital duty to be done and dusted and it is not to be requested of me again!

To be fair, it wasn't all bad. We secured a good parking space, had a delicious hot meal al fresco without having to pay a fortune and had fairly decent seats for the not-too-ruinous sum of £37.50 each. We passed on a programme on learning that they were £15 each but I imagine that this particular rip-off was beyond the Arena's control. The hall was respectably full and there were plenty of stewards in evidence.

The girl singer who did the warm-up was quite acceptable and provided her own piano accompaniment very effectively. And several of Meatloaf's backing band are clearly very talented, especially the piano player.

But the main event was an excruciatingly bad two and a quarter hours of excessive noise, unintelligible words and foul-mouthed invective, which was quite gratuitous and an impertinence to his paying audience.

Another point--is it now customary to let audience members freely wander around the hall and to and back from the bar during performances? It's quite offputting, especially for those who have to keep letting people out and in.

Has anyone else seen this show?

Apparently he's coming back to the Arena on 31 October. I think I'll get myself invited to a Hallowe'en party somewhere!

Ian.

No, Ian - not my cup of tea either. I believe he's still churning out Rock Ballads - heard him on SW show a couple of weeks back when Mr. Allinson was sitting in.

Re the prices of tickests, that's not bad but did you also get ripped off from ticket master? I'm going to see Jeff Wayne's musical version of War of the Worlds in December and the tickets were about the same price then you pay a £5 fee just for booking on - line, then another fee for having the tickets emailed to you (cheaper still than the post fees!!).

So let's get this right, I did all the work, never spoke to a concert employee and I get charged for the pleasure of doing it at my home!!!!

Back to the main point - no no no. Bearable back in the day, not now.

He cant sing these days. I thought everybody knew this by now because of his frequent appearances on radio & tv where he murders his own songs. His advertisments should carry a health warning.

Saw Meat Loaf at Wembley Arena a few years ago.

Truly terrible concert-too much swearing, shouting, over the top theatrics-I remember thinking at the time shortly into theconcert "how much longer is this rubbish going to last for".

Memorable because it was a total waste of money-I agree with Ernie I don't think this guy can sing any longer.

Apparently Meatloaf walked out of his concert halfway through, saying he couldn't do it any more!

And I didn't make it to a Hallowe'en Party but ended up working overtime.
