Does anyone on this board actually listen to this show.

If so, what sort of show is it.

Nothing against Nigel I'm sure he is a great guy, but is this show really still relevant in 2007. Indeed what does Nigel do the rest of the week.

Yes, I've been listening for more years than I care to remember - even had a request played once (and I have the letter from Nigel to prove it!)

It's basically a show of just organ music, probably the only one of its kind these days, although once upon a time there were several organ music shows on BBC local radio, and even Capital had one in the early days.

Nigel Ogden himself is an organist of some skill, and occasionally features as a musician as well as presenter - though not nearly as often as Elaine Paige on her show!

As to its relevance in 2007 - well, Radio 2 haven't got rid yet, which must be a good sign, though I doubt it pulls in that many listeners these days, and having to follow Radcliffe and Maconie does it no favours whatsoever (as I have said elsewhere!) I suspect it's still going more out of habit than anything else!

What I find odd about the show is that it seems to be the only one on Radio 2 that seems to have got older - back when I started listening there was a good mix of styles, so inamongst all the theatre organ stuff there was a chance to hear jazz from the likes of Harry Stoneham or Jimmy Smith, or keyboard stuff like John Walker or Margaret Mason (which to be honest was always a bit naff, even then). It seems to be concentrating entirely on theatre organs now, which are OK but it does seem to lack variety these days.

No I don't, I once caught a few minutes of it and thought it was a pile of you-know-what. I'm sure there must be someone who likes it though.

Not wishing to cause offence to anyone but listened to this show for a few minutes and just had to tune it off-truly not to my taste.

Sounds so old fashioned-are the listening figures good for this show.

No, I'm not offended, personally - it's something of an acquired taste, and I doubt the listening figures are all that great, particularly in its new timeslot! However, it's really the last remnant of old-style Radio 2, and as a consequence I'm rather fond of it, and will defend it to the end!
