No-one is to face charges after the 16-month cash-for-honours investigation, the BBC understands.
Four people were arrested - including two of Tony Blair's aides - during inquiries into whether honours were sold and whether a cover-up followed.
Police interviewed 136 people, including ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair and former Tory leader Michael Howard.
All denied wrongdoing, but friends of Mr Blair say the investigation helped weaken his authority.

The questions should be answered " why did the police let it drag out for over 16 months" Wasting One million pounds worth of tax payers money?
I suppose the police were doing their jobs, but a lot of CPS cases are thrown out if they can't charge anyone. You can't charge someone for no wrong doing. |

Will the Nationalist MP who started the whole thing be charged with wasting police time? I think not! _________________ Geddon

How would they know until they finish the investigation? If they could automatically tell who was guilty & who was innocent, then we wouldnt need a courts system. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Perhaps because, if they didn't, the Daily Mail would be asking why they were not undertaking a proper and thorough investigation?

Wasn't the Mail involved in stirring this lot up? |

Every news organisation worth its salt was investigating this. That's what journalists should do. The Mail has got its fair share of scoops over the years despite what its critics might say about it.

Funnily enough, nor do I. But I like do like to point to its editorial (and political) bias because I see it as a threat to me. |

No. I just like having a go at the Wail. It's fun - and I'm not alone. I don't have time to talk about the Wail in the pub, I'm too busy drinking. |

Well your hijacking of any thread where you dont agree with something and accusing the Daily Mail of being behind it is extremely boring at this stage. Its like being strapped into an airplane seat sitting next to some droning man telling the same "joke" over and over. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Never mind.

And the Daily Mail certainly is a joke, I'll grant you that! |

It was nothing to do with the bloody mail SNP politician Angus MacNeil started the ball rolling asking for a probe into this. I'm sure he thought there was something to gain out of this, and it's back fired. |
