I see the maudlin Christmas songs are starting in the run-up! I reckon Stuart Maconie went to the lavatory when this was on (cue 'He's a journalist and he's okay...') because it's not his usual choice.
I thought Westlife's Home was depressing but this deserved the slaughtering it got on the Good Bad or Ugly spot! _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

Wouldnt say its maudlin. Its a bit depressing if the daytime audience cant accept something other than the same 50 reords plays in a slightly different order each day.
If Kenny Everett was alive, he would be playing classical mixed with pop. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I'm not sure Ken would have played KJ - he preferred the tried and tested classics with a bit of life or beauty in them.
I've only heard a brief sample of Rejoice, and it doesn't sound as if it falls into either category. There's nothing else of her new album (which bears the same title) available yet. Two songs have been written by Gary Barlow and three by Steve Mac; she also borrows from Shirley Bassey, Seal, Doris Day, and P J Proby _________________ Ron |

I love seeing Katherine Jenkins on TV. Mind you I turn the sound off! What a racket! |

She's doing a heavy round of TV and magazine interviews leading up to the album's release in time for Christmas. The one in the Telegraph is here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2007/10/21/st_katharinejenkins.xml&page=1
I wouldn't mind quite so much if she wasn't so heavily marketed (Most Famous Opera Singer In The World - she hasn't sung in opera yet) or so heavily made and dressed up to look like a Hollywood star (some have unkindly said like Barbie) - in the photo in the magazine she looks even more plastic than she does on the webpage. _________________ Ron |
