First it was Diesel now Unleaded has reached the pound mark or over at some garages.

It's going to cost some people like myself double the price to put fuel in my car every week.

Your thoughts on this?

Oil is at $100 a barrel. Time to buy a bike.

I drive a 1.1 5-door Citreon Saxo Forte. It costs me £25 to fill my tank right up. Back in 2003 when I bought the car, it would cost me £20 for a full tank of petrol. Therefore, I suppose I should be grateful the cost of filling my tank has only gone up £5 in 4 years!

My car is economically friendly. A full tank of petrol lasts me 2 weeks!

I don't do badly either. In the bad old days I used to fill up 3 times a week. Now I work from home and I half-fill only once a week. Even better is that the best of three pubs is only 10 minutes walk (to the pub) and about 60 minutes back Shocked ! Much less need for a car, I'm glad to say!

There are loads of pubs in my area - most of which I have been barred from! Laughing Laughing

I wonder if they're all run by John Wright Breweries? Rolling Eyes

Petrol has been well over £1 per litre for the last couple of years in the far NW of Scotland and some of the offshore islands. Back in September when I was up at Cape Wrath, the garage in Durness was selling unleaded at £1.09; Ullapool was slightly better at £1.04. September 2006, when I was travelling around Orkney, on Rousay, the only pump on the island was charged at something like £1.25 per litre: Sanday was charging £1.10 per litre.

It's still 95.9 up here in Newcastle.

I can understand why it is more expensive in the rural or more remote parts of the country, but am puzzled as to why there should be variations in price across urban and more densely populated areas.

For example, in the Nottingham area unleaded has just gone up another 1p to 96.9p. In Worcester, which is just as competitive an area in terms of supermarket outlets etc., it is consistently 4p a litre dearer, and the cheapest is now 100.9p

A garage on a rural section of the A68 on the Northumberland/Durham border has been charging over £1 per litre for quite some time. Needless to say, I take my business elsewhere.

The filling stations on the cross-border routes (A68, A697) are notorious for their pricing. Captive market.

Mark O-We do our food shopping every 2 weeks so yes our bill is over £50 and hence we always get a discount voucher for fuel.

I filled up today and got nearly £3.50 of the total cost-I thought that was good.

The quality of the petrol they sell is pretty awful though.

Really-What's the problem with their fuel.

Didn't they have a problem with their supplies sometime ago-I'm afraid I cannot remember the detail.

Touch wood I've never had any problems.

Rachel posted something about this a few months back. I'll see if I can find it.

I always used to think BP gave a little more to the Gallon? Now you can't really tell with all Price tags gone up.

Very difficult to tell - given that fuel is measured in Litres!

Thanks Ernie and Mark O for the reminder.

Hopefully the problem was a one off. I'm not put off getting my fuel from them. I find it easy to do our shopping and fill up with fuel all in one go very convenient-it's saves me precious weekend time.

I couldn't believe my eyes are saw Unleaded at some garages today going for 97p and 98p in the Horley & Redhill area which is closer to London. In Crawley it's still over the pound mark.

Shocked
