Did anyone else wake up this morning to the melodious voice of the Dark Lord? He’s back!! His little toned tummy tanned to perfection….. ahhhhh yes…. life is back as it should be. Well very nearly. |

My body clock has been unusually discomknockerated by the hour's change at the weekend. I didn't wake up until after 7 this morning, and am still suffering from the effects of that. _________________ Ron |

Slightly spooky...
Last night, in the absence of anything on TV after 10.30, I had some music on, just my i-pod classic on random shuffle through the hi-fi.
Seven of the tracks played on that, over a couple of hours, were repeated on Alex's show this morning. Is that or _________________ Ron |

What exactly happened this morning? Did Ms. K dump on Alex at the last minute? If so, that's disgraceful! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

She phoned in at 4am with Hayfever. I guess there was no one else to cover as Richard Allinson is on the Sony webcast. I don't know about the rest of the week? |

Your such a hero She's back. Still sniffing. So I guess she will be harping on about her hayfever for a few days, until someones called in to cover. |

So do/have I. However, after doing some mowing and strimming in the garden one June Saturday twenty-odd years ago I also suffered a reaction to a concentration of pollen, could hardly breathe, my face puffed up and my eyes were stinging and looked as though they were filled with jelly. Had next day not been a Sunday that record would have been broken, so I can understand Sarah's reaction, to rape, I believe, the sight and smell of which is very powerful in the country at the moment.
My wife still dines out on the incident, from time to time, much to my embarassment, but it does get me out of heavy-duty gardening at the peak of the season! _________________ Ron |

Colby, Alex is a big boy, he can take it. Flexibility is one of Alex's key assets- you should try Feldenshwarp, it helps to maintain a positive outlook.
It's ok to say, you know what - I'm not feeling up to it today. It's not a weakness- it's a strength. |

He can - and did. It was a refreshing change to hear him at 7.00am yesterday (when my wife's alarm clock radio comes on), for sure. I like Alex.

Funny that. Flexibility is one of my key strengths as well. And I haven't even heard of "Feldenshwarp", whatever that is!

Thank you for your philosophical advice. I'm always up for new challenges and manage to embrace what each new day brings. I'm an optimist too, you see!
I do like to keep a level head, though; that's why I prefer to abstain from listening from the more banal radio offerings, such as those that are presented to us at 5.03pm weekdays on R2. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Yes and no...
anyway back to the show.....
This week it's the killer fact- you meet your perfect partner - all goes well, then you discover that one thing which instantly turns the relationship from a sunny February flight in a hot air balloon to an August afternoon at the abattoir. Perhaps it's the socks with sandals, or the pile of railway enthusiast magazines in the boot of his car. Oh what! You flew your model helicopter last night ?- Waiter! -may we have the bill please?. Could it be the flares or just the colour of his tie? “ Taxi!” Maybe you discover he collects cheese models, or perhaps he likes to knit. “ Help!” It could be something as simple as Y-fronts or as complicated as his nipple stud. “ Oh no it could be too late!” |

me too Dave I like the little fellas.
It's the clubs that get me. At a sub-aqua club with a "new" friend years ago.
A trio of chaps - over there.
1st Chap " I'm diving with Nigel tonight."
2nd Chap " No you're not, it's my turn to dive with Nigel."
3rd Chap " I thought it was my turn"
1st Chap " but you dived with Nigel last week."
3rd Chap " But I'm new- Nigel said he would look after me"
2nd Chap " That doesn't mean you get to dive with Nigel every week"
1st Chap " Look Nigel has a Blonde with him"
3rd Chap " He's not going to be diving with any of us."
Blonde - You didn't tell me your name was Nigel. |

That depends on what other gigs he had ( if any). All DJs would mud wrestle with their own grandmothers to get a slot on Radio 2- even if that means getting up early. Radio 2 is where careers peak-if they don't make it to Radio 2- then they've really never "made it" at all. |

Just a quick reminder to set your alarm clocks for 3....... hang on.. No! Much better; don't go to bed at all on Sunday night - tune into Radio 2 then, push on through until dawn..... Alex is back!!!! 3am Monday. Far too exciting to sleep. |

Trouble is that if ever Steve Wright were to leave R2, I can't see there being a future for Tim Smith either as he's in "the shadow" so speak. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Mark , Tim is ok he's grown on me, last time he was in for Alex he played my Listener's Library track- so he can do no wrong now- even if he did read my name out in full about a hundred times... |

Tim used to host Weekend Early breakfast on Radio 1. Glad he's able to move away from Steve Wright clone and do his own stuff. Shame Janey can't be heard somewhere else on Radio 2 to cover. She was good covering SLS, but seemed to be pushed out after losing her overnight show a few years back. |

I didn't make it beyond midnight.
Doesn't sound as though his July fortnight had quite the same thrill factor as previous years, and chafed thighs are a poor memento to bring back with you (I'm sure I read somewhere that some men resort to wearing ladies' tights to alleviate the problem, or is that just some subliminal perverted fantasy of mine? Whatever, I don't think I'll be popular if I suggest it)
£18.30 [for a lorry] to cross the Humber Bridge It's that or a 70-mile detour.
Don't you love it when some cocky individual gets their come-uppance?
A bloke in a Range Rover cut it a bit fine overtaking us on the Barnstaple to Bideford road last month. We saw him later in the car park after our little shopping expedition - he jumped in, switched on, and with something of a roar and a grey puff of diesel fumes, reversed into a tree, smashing his onside rear lights. Made me laugh like a drain (once we were well out of earshot)
The Hero letter about price and security labels obscuring the vital information on CDs and books rang a bell - I remember starting a thread about that somewhere and got absolutely no response at all. Anyway, the chap who sent it in, Colin Bower, is a retired Radio Trent DJ. _________________ Ron |
