Sleepy bye byes by 21.30 for me, Ron .... up early .... Lord Redlegs is back, as hairy as ever.... and it's probably all that hair causing the chaffing .... I remember once being on a 50 mile treck across the Brecon Beacons... one of the chaps had me shaving his inner thighs after 20 miles or so...... lots of vaseline followed..... |

you could send Alex this link , Ron. I buy quite a lot from this site, I just noticed it has a section for men ... although, it doesn't look too different to the womens' section to me.

Oh I say! That's nice
I may try that (sending him the link, that is). (I did try to send the Not So Cocky Now thing, slightly amended, but I just got an error message _________________ Ron |

Did you send it, Ron?
I'm thinking about T-shirts/football shirts with actors/artists'/bands' names instead of footballers' names...... Laurel and Hardy maybe..... Blondie... Suspect Device.... etc...
Oh, I also shop here....... you'll like this one... it also has a mens' section:)

I did. He wasn't impressed, though (you obviously haven't had a chance to listen to the show yet). I'm surprised he used it as well as the NSCN.
A-ha, a very nice sight/site. A welcome tonic for today!
T-shirt fame names? Gert and Daisy? Cox and Kings?
Triplets could wear Mary, Mungo and Midge. Or Bungle, Zippy and George.
For those who want to be alone, Garbo or Pavlov's Dog. _________________ Ron |

cool beans! ... I didn't get all of yesterday's show ( Tuesday is out to lunch with mum-in-law day) I hope to catch up today - painting again today.
Those corsets are blooming tight .... it's quite difficult to breathe, but that's a price worth paying for a 22" waist
Mary , Mungo and Midge.... I used to love that, except for one episode about the weather - it was a battle of sun , wind, and cloud ... the wind noise really scared me ... and to this day, I don't like wind. |

A 22" waist I don't think I've ever.....
The wind never bothered me much (I even slept through the gale which ripped off the neighbour's ridge tiles a few years ago) until one stormy night spent alone in the country at my wife's late aunt's place, just after she died. The roaring sound through the trees in her garden and the crackling of electricity pylons and wires (power was cut of course and it was pitch black outside, and could I find a torch inside?) and the gusts which made it feel as if the wolf really was huffing and puffing to blow the house down, was all quite nerve-jangling. _________________ Ron |

It's only 22" when the corset is done up, Ron. A corset, nice though they are for standing about at parties looking slim, is not the ideal underwear for watching a football match on telly - because everything is so squeezed and squashed into place - if you throw your arms over your head in that woohoo- a goal! kind of way - all the stuff at the top pops out - and there ain't no way to get them back in ....
I've listened to yesterday's show.... " you won't be seeing me in tights any time soon" Alex said..... Well: some of us can remember that photo ... yes, you know the one...the fancy dress party and... the Bernie Clifton chicken outfit thing....... it still haunts me |

Rachel - please record some video. Please. No, really.
Okay. I love Chris Evans. There I've gone and dunnit. Hell, that took some effort, it really did.
So........ please shoot some video of you in "the corset" and going "woohoo!" when a goal is scored.
Pretty please, in fact. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

With all the fuss about Sir Tel and the schedule change around, it's easy for the important presenters and shows to get lost in the noise, so for those of you wanting a really good listen - check out Alex on the I-player. He was talking about cars this morning .... fab stuff, and as ever the best music. |

Believe it or not, Rachel, I think Alex Lester is a good listen at that hour. Often, when I have to get up extra early in order to get work done and dusted by a 9.00am deadline I listen to Alex and I always enjoy him. He has a good microphone manner and a cheeky self-deprecating tone which works well.
Putting the existing differences (re: breakfast presenters, etc) etc., I do think that Alex would have made a good replacement for El Tel. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I like Alex and think he would be ideal for Drivetime. Good fun and banter not the childish rubbish currently served up. |

What a wind-up! (Why sworn to secrecy about something which was plastered over the website on Friday? ) Still, no news is good news, really. _________________ Ron |

I'm a prawn.... I don't know how to do the Oddcast thing... will it go on my MP3? How do I do that? Where's my leads?!!! I've only ever used it to record radio. ....
Mind you, I've already listened to the shows ... I just want to be hip when I go down to the WI tonight .... I can say to the others, have you heard the latest Oddcast with added Alex?.... then there'll be that sort of mass hen clucking sound followed by dagger looks... then the questions... What is added Alex? , is it like Bifidus Digestivum or Aloe Vera?.... ...Oh no!!!- added Alex is really yummy scrummy and massively bad for you...... .... what a way to go... |

Obviously trying to get a bit of "publicity" - make people interested
I bet he wasn't really sworn to secrecy! _________________ Fred Hart

It’s quite a big deal for Alex and his fans. Having a BBC Podcast puts Alex in very good DJ company.
I can imagine how the big secret all went Pete Tong…
Alex you cannot tell anyone until Monday 14th
OK my lips are sealed.
Memo to IT dept … Please update Home Pages with Alex’s podcast and new pictures on Monday 14th at 03:00 sharp.
IT dept …..
Phwwwwwwwwwhh! 3 in the morning .. you gotta be kidding!!!
Anyone fancy getting here before 3 o’clock Monday morning… it’s to update the site for Alex Lester’s Podcast.
Who?
Why don’t we just update it on Friday night and hope nobody notices?
Great idea… we can update it tonight and then have Monday off! Yay!

The music this morning, especially during the last hour ( the magic hour) was brilliant. The last track, California Blue by the Big O was only the second time I've ever heard it on the radio-( even though I've requested it a zillion times) the first time being .. the very last track Noel Edmunds played at the end of his stint filling in for JW on Drivetime, that being the first time I'd ever heard it. ... I hope that's not a portend to the end of Alex's time on the radio. |

The music, and the sequence, programming, whatever the technical term is, is always brilliant. In one way it's a shame that it's not carried on through the rest of the schedule, but then the show would lose part of its unique appeal.
Strange that a male voice like Roy Orbison's should be so soothing. Raul Malo's is similar, although these days he can sound more like an old-fashioned cabaret crooner. _________________ Ron |

Correct me if I am wrong but my understanding is that Alex is losing listeners during the night time "hand over fist " to other radio stations who are increasing their market share at his expense.
The only reason I mention this is that one of my team who works nights told me this just today. |

I don’t know about that, Mark; myself not being privy to the listener figures for Alex’s show, your friend may be correct, but on the other more likely hand, it could be malicious erroneous gossip, spawned from the belly, of a huge pile of sour grapes, in connection with the imminent release of the Christmas stand-in schedule? That’s what I heard anyway.
